ICE RIDING

MOTORCYCLE ICE RIDING

BEFORE MOTORCYCLE ICE RIDING / RACING

Please review the following video

Falling through the ice is always serious. Those of us that have experienced this scary situation agree that being prepared may save your life. No matter how many times you have been out on the ice before... If you are going out on the ice to do anything, please watch his educational video first.

MOTORCYCLE ICE FENDERS

The reality is... ice fenders may not only extend your ice riding season, but also the season for those you are riding with.

LOUD EXHAUST SYSTEMS

Please leave the loud pipes at home. We have to share the lakes with fisherman and home owners, if we piss them off they will find away to get us kicked off the lake. Our sport is growing and the other side is already taking action to change lake rules in many areas. What is loud? Well 96db is the rule for most off road racing.

MOTORCYCLE ICE Tires

NOTE: Make sure to mount your ice tires correctly

If the tires do not hook up you will probably be packing up. I feel confident in stating that there is a lot of talent, patients and skill involved when making a great ice tire. Usually people attempt to make their first set of ice tires for several reasons... cost, cost, cost. Many of those same people break down and buy pro-built tires after riding another bike that has had pro-tires installed. Why? because the pro-tires stick to the ice like a SuperMoto bike running fresh scuffed in slicks on a hot summers day. I can not tell you how to build a pro tire, because I do not have the talent, skill or patients it takes to build one. But I can give you some direction on how to get a set of pro-built tires and how to treat them once they make it on to your bike.

Some simple tips when Motorcycle Ice Riding / Racing:

Hand Care: If you have the amps (electric power) you may want to get a set of hand grip heaters. The heaters cost less than $40 and are sold by many dealers including Petrie Motorsports.

If you do not have the electrical power to run hand heaters than Chicken Fingers may be the way to go. Chicken Fingers are like an arctic jacket for your knuckles. The best bar end mittens made for Ice Riding come from Chicken Shite Racing, they even have a built in wire system to keep the opening accessable for easy entry. CLICK HERE for pictures

Bark Busters: Save levers, lever mounts, and master cylinders with a good set of Bark Busters. NOTE: some handle bar mittens may not fit over your Bark Busters. Chicken Fingers described above were designed to go over bark busters

This is what it is all about
